The 31 year-old player signed up a $250 million contract for five years with the Los Angeles Galaxy about a month ago. His contract with Real Madrid ends om June 30th; the MLS team was not expecting him until August but he has a knee injury that sidelined him for 1 month.

Leiweke, head of the organization that runs the Galaxy, said "We still have to work through him finishing his term at Real Madrid and I'm fairly certain we can get David comfortable and playing with this team in time for the Chelsea.
